Everything started a few years ago in Valencia-Venezuela,
when Jim and Kenny
were in high school. As class mates and sports teams partners they discovered
many musical interests in common, and musical instruments too!, such as
the guitar. They always had in mind to complete a band where Jim
would play the bass guitar and Kenny the
guitar, but the idea was never acomplished. After several years of studying and musical experiences, these old friends reunite with Juan Saladen (friend of theirs) and started some jamming sessions just for fun and to release energy, after many sessions, they decided to take a new approach. they would start rehearsing songs that later would be played in live shows, Kenny played the guitar and sang, Jim takes care of the bass guitar, and Juan would play the drums. After a couple of live shows, Juan left the band and was replaced by Johnny Solovey, who inmediatly got along with the bands style, at that moment the priority was writing their own material. Kenny would take care of the music and the lyrics, Jim would add some vocals and bass lines and Johnny would be responsable for some very punk rythms, which completes the sound of PWP. The sound of PWP cannot be defined as one genre of music, because it has many aspects taken from different types of music, but in a all around point of view, indie rock could be a good way to describe how the band sounds. Distorted and high gain guitars, very melodic bass lines, and drum rythms that go from classic rock, grunge and even punk, these are characteristics that can be heard in the music created by these 3 guys. In the vocal aspect, pop melodies and beach boys/beatles vocal harmonies style are appreciated when listening to PWP. |
